The iconic Mercedes G-Class (sometimes called the G-Wagen / G-Wagon) is now 33 years old! Since 1979, its aesthetics haven’t changed that much, which is what so many people love about it. Back in 1979, it was purposed to be a hardcode off-road vehicle – and that is still the case today. But to keep up with the times, and with the law, Mercedes had to give the new G-Class DRLs (daytime running lights) in the form of LEDs. The mirrors are new for 2012 too, but that’s really about it, externally speaking! Inside, Mercedes have stepped up the luxuriousness of the G-Class, with a totally new  [...]

In this week’s Auto Express magazine, car valuation specialists CAP have published a survey of the lowest depreciating cars in the UK. By lowest depreciating, we mean cars which retain the largest percentage of their value – the opposite of many large, luxury cars, which often lose a large chunk of their value as soon as they are driven off the dealer’s forecourt. It’s often down to supply and demand. On the nearly-new and used markets, if certain models are scarce, they will hold onto more of their value. So which cars made it onto the podium of CAP’s survey in Auto Express? They  [...]

‘Hang on, you’ve misspelt it!’, you may be thinking. But you’re wrong. We’re not focusing on the concept of infinite time and space without limits – the Infiniti we’re interested in is the luxury car brand, who have treated the UK market to some rather special vehicles since they introduced themselves here fairly recently. And 2012 and 2013 are set to be even bigger, more important years for the company, with some very exciting new car launches scheduled. If you’re still not sure who Infiniti are, they are the luxury division of Japanese car manufacturer Nissan – rather like  [...]

James Hartley, a 39 year old motorist who recently took his BMW in for a service, was very surprised to be given a Ferrari 348 TB as a courtesy car. But this wasn’t from a special garage that has a fleet of luxury cars to give out as courtesy cars; it was the garage boss’s own personal vehicle. When Alex Dunlop found out that all of his 7 courtesy cars were out, he handed over the keys to his Ferrari worth around £45,000. James was extremely pleased with his new Ferrari, even if it was on loan for a few hours. He took the car for a spin down the high street to show off. Garage  [...]

As winter beckons, motorists are being warned to be extra vigilant when driving in icy conditions because of the grip of most vehicles. Drivers who own a Peugeot 3008 crossover however don’t have half as much to worry about, with the car becoming the first to tackle the one-in-three gradient at the Tamworth snow dome. The ultimate test of grip has proved to be an impossible challenge, with other four-wheel drive vehicles failing to tackle the steep slope. Peugeot’s two-wheel-drive crossover however completed the task with relative ease, demonstrating just how effective the cars grip  [...]
