The most expensive vehicle Škoda ever commissioned never had an engine. For a 2007 TV advert, a team of bakers crafted a life-sized, hyper-detailed replica of the Fabia entirely out of cake. The final bill? £500,000 — more than it cost to build a real Superb at the time.

To mark the 10th anniversary of its vRS performance line in 2011, Škoda’s UK team took a heavily modified, 550-horsepower Octavia to the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah — and clocked an official 325 km/h (201 mph), making it the fastest car ever to wear the winged arrow badge.
