Parts replaced in pairs.

Where it is important to do so, during warranty repairs, parts may be replaced in pairs rather than individually. Edd China explains the benefits of this and how it can save you money, and hassle, in the long run.

“What does replacement in pairs mean? In some cases, during warranty repairs, parts may be replaced in pairs rather than individually.”

“It means that when one component of a system or assembly fails and requires replacement under warranty the corresponding component on the other side or the matching part in the system is also replaced even if it hasn’t failed yet.”

“The benefit of replacing parts in pairs is to ensure balanced performance and longevity of the system by replacing both components simultaneously, it also helps to maintain a consistent level of wear and tear on both sides.”

“This can prevent potential future failures or issues on the unaffected side and reduce the chance of having to return for another repair shortly after the initial one.”

“For example, if one suspension spring fails and is replaced under warranty the pairing principle would involve replacing the spring on the opposite side as well, even if it’s still functioning properly. This helps maintain the balance and integrity of the suspension system, ensuring optimal performance and reducing the risk of subsequent failures.”

“While the practice of pairing parts may increase the immediate cost of the repair it can ultimately save money and inconvenience in the long run by minimising the likelihood of future related issues and the need for additional warranty repairs.”

Warranty FAQ’s.

An extended warranty can help you manage the cost of mechanical or electrical repairs once the manufacturer’s warrant has ended. Add-ons such as breakdown recovery, car hire or onward travel may also be available depending on the plan level.

The warranty plan options available to you will depend on factors such as your vehicle’s age and mileage. You can then tailor selected features and limits to reflect your needs and budget.

Each warranty is slightly different in the level of plan it provides, so please refer to your plan booklet for details.

Warrantywise plans may be available monthly or for fixed terms of 12, 24 or 36 months. The terms and prices available for your vehicle will be shown in your quotation.

You can pay for your Warrantywise plan in full, spread the cost over four months or choose a monthly pay-as-you-go option. Before choosing, check the payment schedule so you understand how much you will pay, when payments are due and how the pay-as-you-go option works.

Mechanical parts are components that use movement or force to help your car operate, for example parts within the engine, steering and suspension systems. For full details please refer to your plan booklet, as the parts listed will depend on your plan level.

We always recommend using one of our Approved Repairers. These repair facilities undergo careful monitoring to guarantee the best workmanship and service quality. However, we understand that you may have a preferred garage in mind. If that’s the case, please ensure they are VAT registered and follow our provided ‘Repairs Procedure’ outlined in your warranty plan booklet. It’s also crucial to verify that their labour rate aligns with your warranty schedule.

The plan cannot be transferred from your current car to another vehicle, however you may be able to cancel it and put any remaining balance towards a new Warrantywise plan for your own or a family member’s vehicle.
