About your Mitsubishi

Mitsubishi’s automotive history dates to 1917 when the company first produced the Mitsubishi Model A, Japan’s first mass-produced automobile. Founded as part of the broader Mitsubishi industrial conglomerate, the automotive division represented a small but significant part of a much larger industrial empire that included shipbuilding, mining, and heavy machinery.

Throughout the mid-20th century, Mitsubishi established itself as an innovative automotive manufacturer. The company gained recognition for its robust and reliable vehicles, especially in markets requiring tough, dependable transportation. The Pajero (known as Montero in some markets) became an iconic off-road vehicle, winning the gruelling Dakar Rally multiple times and establishing Mitsubishi’s reputation for engineering durability.

Mitsubishi’s withdrawal from the UK and several European markets in 2021 represents a complex strategic decision. The company cited challenges in meeting increasingly stringent European emissions regulations and the significant investment required to develop new models compliant with these standards. This move was part of a broader restructuring following the Renault-Nissan alliance, which saw Mitsubishi focusing on core markets in Asia and other regions.

The final models available in the UK included the Outlander PHEV, a pioneering plug-in hybrid SUV that had been particularly successful in the British market. The Eclipse Cross and ASX were the other remaining models before the brand’s European exit.

Prior to withdrawal, Mitsubishi’s global lineup included several notable models. The Outlander PHEV demonstrated the brand’s commitment to hybrid technology, offering an innovative plug-in hybrid SUV. The L200 pickup truck remained a favourite among commercial and recreational users, known for its robust design and off-road capabilities.

For those who still own existing Mitsubishi vehicles, an extended warranty can be very beneficial. These vehicles incorporate complex technological systems that can be expensive to repair, particularly as parts become less readily available following the brand’s market withdrawal. An extended warranty simply adds an extra layer of reassurance.

Keep in mind that no warranty can include everything. Our Warranty Plans are written in plain English to help you understand and make an informed decision before you take out your warranty. Get a quote for your extended warranty and buy it online today.
