Is your Renault over 3 years old? Has the manufacturer’s warranty on your Renault expired?
Founded in 1899 by three brothers, Louis, Marcel and Fernand Renault, the French brand has gone on to become the third-largest automobile producer in Europe. In the early days of production, Renault made a lot of tractors, tanks, buses and coaches, but soon focused solely on the cars and vans that we recognise it for today.
The brand is so popular in France that even the French Government has a 15 per cent stake in the shares of Renault. Taking part in Motorsport was vital for Renault and it gave them the publicity they needed to really get production off the ground and seal their spot as a large scale producer. Renault introduced the first turbo engine to Formula 1, and have built for some of the best teams around with such great drivers as Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button utilising the famous French hardware.
Renault didn’t really establish themselves in the UK until the release of the Clio in 1991, which won the European car of the year award. In fact, Renault have six European Car of the Year awards to their name, winning in 1966, 1982, 1991, 1997, 2003 and in 2006. Two of those wins were achieved by the ever-popular Clio.
